Newcastle vs Arsenal Predictions

Newcastle beat Arsenal 2-0 at the Emirates in early January to secure a 2-0 aggregate lead in the EFL Cup semi-final.

That victory came during the Magpies’ nine-match winning streak in all competitions. Eddie Howe’s side have since lost two of their last three matches - both at home.

Newcastle were thrashed 4-1 at home by Bournemouth before beating Southampton 3-1 away. Howe’s team returned to St James’ Park on Saturday and lost 2-1 against Fulham.

Arsenal’s confidence is growing following a seven-match unbeaten run in all competitions. The London side haven’t lost since their EFL Cup defeat to Newcastle and have won five.

Mikel Arteta’s side are on a four-match winning run. They beat Dinamo Zagreb 3-0, Wolves 1-0 and Girona 2-1 before thrashing Man City 5-1 on Sunday.

Verdict

Newcastle v Arsenal

Newcastle have been second-best against mid-table Premier League sides at home. Arsenal are a team on the up and a Gunners win is the best bet in the EFL Cup.
