Glover Teixeira vs Jiri Prochazka Preview
This is the perfect main event, an experienced veteran champion taking on the fiery and hungry young lion of the Light Heavyweight jungle to determine who reigns supreme. Glover Teixeira has had one of the most heart-warming stories to claim UFC gold, from having his visa denied, to losing 3 fights out of 5, to eventually winning 6 in a row which saw him conquer UFC gold at the age of 42.
Glover Teixeira believes in coming forward and coming out on top with a finish. Glover is extremely well-rounded with excellent boxing and one of the best Jiu-jitsu skill sets in the UFC. The champion has looked most impressive in his last 3 wins which have seen him finish 3 top-tier fighters in Jan Blachowicz, Thiago Santos and Anthony Smith as an underdog.
The man with the most finishes in the Light Heavyweight divisions will have his hands full this weekend against Czech Republic's Jiri Prochazka.
Jiri is a nightmare matchup for anyone in the division given his explosive and unpredictable fighting style. He has been on a tear outside and inside the UFC, currently riding a 12-fight win streak and 10-fight knockout streak. Jiri has an extremely high finish rate of his own, earning 96% of his wins by a finish. He was offered a UFC contract earlier in his career, but he focused on improving outside the UFC and entered the Octagon when he was ready to become a champion.
Jiri entered the UFC with a bang knocking out 2 former title challengers in Volkan Oezdemir and Dominick Reyes which earned him this title shot. This fight is extremely underrated, and we expect this one to be full of fireworks. We will likely see a clash of styles as the champion will look to implement a wrestling heavy gameplan.
Although Jiri will fight the way he does, he will be explosive, unpredictable, and elusive in the Octagon to create some magic.
Teixeira vs Prochazka Best Bets
Our first best bet comes on our prelim headliner between Brendan Allen and Jacob Malkoun. As the money-line has it, Allen is the more experienced and proven fighter out of the two, but we see some good value on our Australian underdog. Malkoun has dominantly won his last 2 fights, he has the wrestling prowess and Allen being knocked out twice in his last 5 fights, we are going against the favourite on this one and backing Malkoun.
Our next best bet is a plus money main card parlay combining Jack Della Maddalena to win and Weili vs Joanna to hit the scorecards. We think Maddalena is a great talent and has a favourable matchup in front of him, he is the younger and fresher fighter riding good momentum which will help him get his hands raised.
The rematch of the greatest women's fight ever is set to go down this weekend and this time it is 3 rounds. Considering it was a split decision last time, it is tough to pick a winner here. Although we think Joanna having a 2-year lay-off and this being a 3-round fight, we will witness another classic that hits the judges' scorecards.
Our final bet comes in our Light Heavyweight main event, this one is going to be intriguing and explosive, but we are splitting hairs to pick a side. We think it will be a competitive fight but most importantly it will be very quick. The champion has the most finishes at Light Heavyweight, and he faces a contender who has 23 first-round career finishes. We believe this one will end inside 2.5 Rounds and that's our final pick this weekend which rounds off the mega bet slip.
