Stake customer successfully backed European football bet
Late first-half goals helped punter win almost $100,000

One football punter is celebrating after winning almost $100,000 betting on the UEFA Europa Conference League on Thursday night.

The Stake customer bet $26 on a treble featuring FC Twente vs FK Cukaricki, Djurgardens vs Sepsi Sfantu Gheorghe and FC Basel vs Brondby.

For the bet to win the punter not only needed Twente, Djurgardens and FC Basel all to lead at half-time, they also needed both teams to score in the first half of each game.

It turned out to be a great bet that resulted in the customer winning $98,096.43.

“You don’t always have to bet big to win big,” said a spokesperson for Stake.

FC Twente recovered from conceding an early goal to lead 2-1 at the break against Cukaricki to complete one leg of the bet.

Djurgardens also had to come from behind to take a 2-1 lead into half-time against Sepsi.

But it was a much closer call in FC Basel vs Brondby, as the customer needed three goals late in the half to complete the winning bet.

A 40th minute penalty put Basel ahead, before both teams scored in added time at the end of the half.
