The BMW Championship serves as the penultimate tournament on the PGA tour and precedes the Tour Championship where the year’s hard work comes down to.

Formerly called the Western Open, the BMW Championship is held in Wilmington, Delaware.

The course is known as one of the more historical places for golfers because of the importance of this weekend and how close it is towards the end of the season.

Will Zalatoris (Odds 15.00 at time of writing) - A truly gutsy performance in the finals of the St. Jude’s FedEx Championship, Will Zalatoris looks to build on his first tour win in style at this year’s BMW Championship.

Zalatoris is young in terms of golf years but looks like a seasoned pro when out on the green.

His game translates well to most courses, and he has a compact swing that creates heavy hitting and accurate shots into the fairway.

Putting can be his weakness at times, but Zalatoris can learn from his mistakes and improve.

He is a great golfer and on form as anyone at the moment, making him a backable bet this weekend. Zalatoris is a name to watch out for not only this week, but for the future years on the PGA Tour.

Xander Schauffele (21.00) - Xander Schauffele is an accomplished golfer and is only 28 years of age.

The man from California has won seven tour titles in his career to date while not even reaching the prime of his abilities.

Schauffele has had a rugged road in terms of results so far this year, but there is no better time to start off for the next year than now.

Xander has a powerful game, but often has flashes of disappointing play that can take him out the race.

He has posted more consistent results as of late and is a good value play on these courses in Delaware.

Rory Mcllroy (12.00) - The UK’s pride and hope, Rory Mcllroy is a former champion of the Western Open and has fond memories of doing well on this course since his career started.

There have been a lot of opportunities for Rory to win a chip this season that have slipped through his fingers and he will feel hard done by some of the results that transpired.

Creating a lane for himself and being confident in his abilities has done him well this season and he figures to give it another shot at the BMW Open this weekend.

If Rory can get his long game on par with what he can produce, this might be scary for the field.
