Sean Strickland and Nassourdine Imavov will fight at light-heavyweight after the former agreed to take on the fight at short notice.

Imavov was originally scheduled to take on Kelvin Gastelum in the main event of the UFC’s first card of the year, but that bout had to be shelved this week when Gastelum withdrew to a facial injury.

Rather than remove Imavov from the card, the UFC looked for a replacement and they found one in Strickland.

Strickland fought less than a month ago, losing by decision to Jared Cannonier, but will now have the unique honour of headlining back-to-back UFC events as he tries to get back on track after back-to-back losses.

While Strickland is looking to turn things around, Imavov is aiming to add to his growing reputation.

The Russian fighter is on a three-fight win streak heading into this contest, a run that has propelled him into the middleweight rankings.

This fight is taking place at light-heavyweight due to Strickland agreeing to step in at such late notice, but a win here would improve Imavov’s standing in the middleweight division.

So will Imavov make it four wins in a row despite dealing with a late change of opponent, or can Strickland bounce back from the defeat he suffered less than one month ago?
