Chicago Bears at New England Patriots Preview

NFL Week 7 concludes with a clash between the Chicago Bears and New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium.

New England go into this matchup having won back-to-back games with third string quarterback Bailey Zappe leading the offense, while Chicago’s offense has continued to splutter during a three-game losing skid.

The Patriots lost second-year QB Mac Jones to injury and turned to veteran Brian Hoyer in his absence, but Hoyer’s run lasted less than a game. Bill Belichick quickly pulled him during the loss to Green Bay, and saw enough to stick with Zappe to stick with him going forward.

It was a decision that paid off for Belichick as the backup to his backup led New England to back-to-back wins and a 3-3 record. The Patriots ended a two-game losing sequence with a 29-0 shutout of Detroit, and then followed that up with a 38-15 victory at Cleveland.

While New England have been winning games, Chicago have been stacking up losses to fall to 2-4.

The Bears came into the season with plenty of question marks hanging over the offense. A terrible offensive line and a lack of weapons on offense have made it difficult to truly judge second-year QB Justin Fields, and he has experienced some major ups and downs through six games.

Chicago will be eager to tap back into that second half performance in Minnesota that showed so much promise, but can they? Or will New England stay on a roll and inflict another defeat on their visitors?
